One to Ten (Song for Children)

One seed sown
Growing into a tree.

Two black horses
Drawing a carriage.

Three wild monkeys
Swinging on the branches.

Four little puppies
Following their mother.

Five tiny pigs
Playing in the puddle.

Six yellow butterflies
Flying in the air.

Seven white chicks
Sleeping under the wing.

Eight happy girls
Jumping their ropes.

Nine smiling boys
Beating the drums.

Ten red cars
Racing on the track.

Out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,
