Only For You Poem by Bireswar Halder

Only For You

You the blessed, God’s boon, a being of beauty
Complete, holy and perfect in everything
As though sculpted out of stone
A chiseled romantic shape of yours.

Your beauty takes my breath away
I become speechless, overwhelmed
I feel you from afar, feel your glow,
My mortal love fades to your divine halo.

I longed to touch you many a time, but in vain
The rays that flow out keep me far from you
I waited -you would come and knock at the door silently
And whisper in my ears, 'See, I have come to you'
But this never happened, it was only a dream to me.

I’ve become older and hair grown silver
My youth slipped by, cold and teary-eyed
Perhaps I’ll leave this beautiful world for you
Will a drop of tear remember me in the end?
Some day that I was only for you will dawn on you
That I was born only for you, my dear, for you alone.
