Only Nature Lives On Poem by Francis Duggan

Only Nature Lives On

What the future has for us we are not to know
But our past seems to follow to where-ever we go
And to the father of time we eventually must bow
And we only can live in the here and the now
Tomorrow will come and yesterday's gone
And time doesn't wait for anyone it keeps ticking on
The promised hereafter may well be a lie
Nature is the only immortal all others must die
Of the wonders of Nature the poets may sing
But for the poet and the poetess there is a last Spring
And the one who inspires bards to song and to rhyme
Only Nature lives on through the centuries of time
To the scythe of the reaper all others must fall
And the father of time does take care of us all.
