Leaving footsteps wherever you went
You took my heart with you
And now it’s too late.
Not a place do I remember
Without you being there with me
Holding hands, our hearts entwined
We were lost in our own haven
Hurting no one outside.
Your smell, your touch,
It’s still all around me, never letting go.
Thoughts rush into my mind
Like the breeze outside my window
Oh how I wish I could move with it
Like there was no tomorrow.
I stop. I think.
Maybe today will be a brand new day,
Maybe it will hurt less.
I look. I wait.
Nothing changes. The river’s just a river,
The memories will never fade
‘Coz it’s still fresh from the wounds you created
It’s still fresh from the pain I endure.
Maybe life would have been different
If we had given it a chance
If we had only let the flower bloom on its own
Without nipping it from the bud…
I long for you. I crave for you. My mind contains only you.
Was it just yesterday that those arms held me tight?
I wait. I still wait.
I close my eyes. Only time will tell.
These tears, this hurt will only be till then.
