Open Your Eyes Poem by Celene Bonin

Open Your Eyes

Why is it that when you think life is finally starting to go your way it abruptly and ruthlessly screeches to a grinding halt leaving you to ponder on how you managed to obtain such an inferior and undesirable life….Why is it that you somehow find yourself buried deep in a dark abyss of a dreadful nightmare that you fear you will never awaken from…..and then you realize……you never will…..the fearful dream becomes life consuming….the thoughts coagulate in your mind thinking why do you not just surrender to the pain that you feel….feeling that no one can assist you out of the darkness and show you the illuminating light that beacons to you, but you never noticed its beaconing call…. You don’t take the time to look at the world around you….until it’s far too late…. And when you do…you expose the truth of how your life became such a meaningless wasteland….The truth is….If people weren’t as hostile and actually pay attention to who they step on, just to get what they want….There would be fewer people who think committing suicide is the only way to stop the torture of the cruel people who maintain glory by inflicting pain and suffering upon others that they deem weak, unworthy and diverse….If you really think about it…. Columbine could have been prevented if the people around them would have stopped and took a glance at the furry and distress they inflicted on the people they were hateful to….Then starts the concept of homicide…motivated by agony and hatred to the people that caused them trauma and in belief that suicide is the only way to escape the misery they encompass….but also not wanting the people who thrust melancholy on to them…..so they choose to take those who lead to the obliteration of their lives with them to parish with them in the depth of despair…..If people become aware of the agony they force upon the people they believe to be different and open their eyes to the vital information that is in front of them….That quite possibly would be enough to save the many from a certain and vain devastation….
Dedication: to the many who have fallen in the battle against the cruelty of the people who devote their time to antagonize the people who abide by their own personality.
