Oranges, Dryer Sheets And You Poem by empty shell

Oranges, Dryer Sheets And You

The smell of an orange being peeled
Its fragrant, refreshing, a chemical reaction? A brain triggering scent?
But something about the smell just makes you smile
The warm Sun shining on your face
Does the heat thin your blood and make it run faster? Vitamin D overdose.
But just try to not smile
Your favourite shirt right out of the dryer
Static giving you Goosebumps? Dryer sheet smell?
Why are you smiling so?
That 80's song by the band you can’t remember
Primal rhythm. Maybe a latent childhood memory
Still smiling, I delve for the truth.
I travel through my head
My mind looks into the depths of my heart
And there you are.
