Orchid Poem by Cigeng Zhang

Orchid

Your young cheeks
Polish the sunlight
I smell the sweet
of a vernal smile
If I were a bee
I must have flown
to your breast
Stayed in your embrace
Even if kissing
on you, only once -
I would be
Drunk, in your honey

What an evocation of Spring! If Winter is trying to hold on, this poem will break his grasp! In winter things and people get sluggish, sleepy, unresponsive. But with spring's arrival everything and everyone is wide awake and energized. You show this revival with a bee sucking nectar from a flower but you make it a HUGE, LIBERATING EVENT. I feel the energy wake up inside of me. It's truly the season of ressurection. What an exciting poem!
