Orphan Child Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Orphan Child

Rating: 5.0

Illiteracy was the main cause
For poverty and curse
This has been for several centuries
It has only added miseries

The population had been living
In remote areas and believing
That livelihood can be easily available
In villages with less struggle

The children were provided
With only food and many things were avoided
The education was not at all priority
The immediate concentration was earning money

The children were sent for labor
It was considered as an honor
The family was leading life happily
This was normal affair in poor family

The problem with orphan child
People were inconsiderate and unkind
They did not provide them with shelter
They were not properly housed or looked after

The poverty has no face to show
It definitely has deep roots and grows
It gives lots of pain and agony
Only prayer releases energy for many

Important message in this poem Helvi Salminen7 minutes ago The beginning of the poem reminds me of a thing said about the importance of literacy: Literacy enables people to read their own world and to write their own history. (words of Yusuf Kassam) The whole poem is something that I appreciate very much. Comment +1
