Our Love's Grave Poem by Christopher McKay

Our Love's Grave

I've laid down the rose upon the grave-
of our love I could not save,
I shed a single tear for what I've lost
But I'll give happiness at any cost.
We've buried our love 6 feet in the past
perhaps one day it will be resurrected.
But life only lives till we last
Until then we are respected.
I gave up with a smile upon my face
For nothing lasts forever,
I was happy with what we had
back when we were together.
But time shall heal the wounds
I have but not a single regret,
for there will again be a love to sooth
and help me forget.
I wish thee the best
and will always be there,
I wish you happiness
and every single care.
I may cry over our loves grave
But I'd rather do that-
Than tear apart what I could have saved.
I will always love you no matter what
so go be happy, for I matter not.
