Our Own Grave Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Our Own Grave

Rating: 5.0

We dug our own grave
We simply surrendered and gave
All our freedom and sovereignty
It was bad on our to show inability

They have only exploited situation
We are to be blamed for its continuation
Even after so many years of freedom
Have we ever felt its test seldom?

We blame the invaders for doing wrong on our country
But we never point out the disunity and feel pity
Even today we are pulling our own legs
Every one is known by different tags

We may offer great sacrifices but of no avail
The situation may still be grim and prevail
Why all bloody wars have failed to deliver results?
The nation has remained under domination with insults

We focus only on atrocities committed in past
We have no courage to point out lapses but cast only doubt
Who cares for the country’s future division?
Only we invite enemies for further invasion

Now they may not come with huge armies to invade
They will make you slave by offering trade
Whole system may be bugged to weaken base
You may then have no time to come out of it and chase

When you are under economic domination
Whole of the countries affair may be subject to question
You may have no say in international affairs
No one may see you with respect and offer chair

Many countries have rolled under financial burdens
They have bartered national interest with stance hardened
Country remains poor along with large population
Bulk of them hardly meet requirements in relation

Country need to be self sufficient in all respects
Young, old and alike must come out strong with acts
If we can manage our own affairs and stand
Nobody on earth can subdue us but remain as friend
