Our Palace Poem by Anthony Joseph Erangey

Our Palace

Wheel me closer Sylvia, that my fading eyes
May once again, behold our palace of love.
I forgot how beautiful and green, this land was.

Do you remember all my cussing when I
Built and varnished that porch rail?
You made me laugh, fed me your special cocktails.

I can picture you there, was it 74 or 75
When we thatched that roof, on scaffold, and ladder?
Always up and down, with your weakened bladder.

Your body was silk-smooth, vivacious, lithe,
So passionate, we danced like lovers new.
In our heat, we could hardly wait for round number two.

What happened to our stones, to cross the stream by?
Whoever owns our love nest now, wouldn't know
That we trekked miles to get them, and dropped them on our toes.

Oh my dearest, those were happy days in our lives.
Long before we became mature and raised our family,
This was our Love palace, just you and me.

Sylvia, honey, is that tears, I see in your eyes?
Kiss me darling, the love of my life.
