Our Transient Reality Poem by EU STRESS

Our Transient Reality

Carried by the windswept tides of destiny,
I fell upon your tender soil,
As a tiny seed.

You gave me support to grow,
You gave me resources to sustain,
You gave me earth to permeate,
You gave me sky to breathe.

Spreading the wings of my foliage,
I soared and soared,
Embracing the seminal energy (the Veerya**) ,
Though I strongly kept holding on to you,
To keep me firmly rooted to my basic reality.

For my reality was you.
I needed you.

Then one day, there was a cyclone;
The turbulent ocean swept away the coast,
The insane winds eroded the terrain,
But nothing could dismantle you,
As all through the disaster,
I enfolded you in my arms
As fervently as you held anchoring me.

The storm subsided
Wrecking devastation every where,
Plundering and destroying
Like a savage fiend,
While we survived
And persisted through the cataclysm.

It was during such crisis
That we realized –
Our reality had changed.
For every thing is transient.

My reality was you,
I still needed you;

And your reality was me,
You needed me too.

[** Veerya or seminal energy is said to be 'the Prana of Pranas'.]

Inspired by the following number sung by Anne Murray, composed by Randy Goodrum:

I cried a tear, you wiped it dry
I was confused, you cleared my mind
I sold my soul, you bought it back for me
And held me up and gave me dignity
Somehow you needed me

You gave me strength to stand alone again
To face the world out on my own again
You put me high upon a pedestal
So high that I could almost see eternity
You needed me, you needed me

And I can't believe it's you
I can't believe it's true
I needed you and you were there
And I'll never leave, why should I leave?
I'd be a fool 'cause I finally found someone who really cares

You held my hand when it was cold
When I was lost you took me home
You gave me hope when I was at the end
And turned my lies back into truth again
You even called me 'friend'

You gave me strength to stand alone again
To face the world out on my own again
You put me high upon a pedestal
So high that I could almost see eternity
You needed me, you needed me

You needed me, you needed me
