Packing Poem by Adam Jeffries

Packing

She sent me packing with her eyes
The bad outweighs the good, she over emphasizes
She didn’t want to hear my apology
Just couldn’t wait to get away from me

She’s hurting me back with a vengeance
She doesn’t need me, and she’s not pretending
Having to be perfect proving to be too much for me
Couldn’t do the things that would keep her happy (apparently!)

She’s killing me with her eyes
What she used to love, she now despises
Only wanted to love her with my heart and my head
She took away my supper, and she sent me to bed
(she didn’t say a word, but our love was declared dead)

My love, I forgive you, though I feel your hatred of me
For you, I’d give my life only too gladly
But now you want nothing to do with me and my life
I love you – so long – my love – my wife

Wish I’d done more to cherish her
Not sure I ever really did deserve her
Gave all I had to being for her the best
Wasn’t worthy of her – just like all the rest.
