Painful Games Poem by Michael Peterson

Painful Games

Is there a time in life where games aren't played?
Hearts and lives, not broken
Many get hurt, some never recover
Pushed to loneliness, damaged
How these games are play can vary
Abuse, cheating, mind control
Are there ways out?
Yes for some, healing will come
Many regrets, lots of sorries
But will it end, not by chance
It's a pitiful cycle, round and round
Fights a cure, words are said
Many bad, but not meant
The heat of the moment, argue rages
Spirits and love broken
Can they mend, only time can tell?
Forgiveness, trust is the hardest to repair
Love is lost, hearts are broken
Marriages ended, lives never the same
These games are pains
Why must they be played?
They must be broken and buried
Love and respect will be gained
Trust will bring happiness
Stop these games before love is gone
We cannot replace the hurt, it must heal slowing
Work together, find a way, be patient
Love will come around
