Parent Poem by aric wilsie

Parent

Worked out with worry
Under a heavy mind
Full of cold memories
Lacking comfort
Switched off
And forgotten
Until needed
Then only
Will the heated
Reminder come
Blowing into
That angry head
Full of
Wanton lament
Staying
Waiting
Now only helping
Never watching
Un-smiling
Bearing a
Lead balloon heart
Sinking down a
Bright red throat
Choking on the tears
That can't stop rolling
Without time
Soft violins
Play a song
That sounds like
A waving hand
Cutting through the air
Blurry and hard to see
Steady
Slow and rising
Like mercury
Like breathing
Like change
