Parents Role Model Poem by Paul Sebastian

Parents Role Model

Are rich and famous ideal role models?
Where are leaders of moral excellence?
Why are there elected corrupt leaders?
Why there's youth moral decadence?

Biased parents play ‘favourites' at home
Yet pressure their children to play fair?
Why do parents constantly fight at home
Expect kids' marriages be a happy fare?

Parents use aggressively foul language
But frown, even scold when imitated
Parents' unbridled anger goes into a rage
But kids' anger ventilated is not tolerated

Why parents are ever so critical of their kids
But reprimand when their kids condemn?
Why do parents tell their kids to truth-skip
But demand honesty, speaking to them?

Why are parents so freaky religious
Yet are often critical of what kids do?
Why be pent-up when kids are frivolous?
Why say: ‘Do what I say, but don't do what I do! '

Parents inhibit their love demonstration
But become upset when love is not shown?
Parents over-protect, spoiling their children
But dependent weak nature is frowned?

Parents don't spend quality moments with kids
When aged care is wanting, their kids are blamed
Bribing kids by showering them love-substitute gifts
Grown kids play ‘Money- can- buy- me-love' game

Career-minded parents prioritize their work
Kids grown up home-alone, minded by maids
Confusing double standards are youth's paradox
Maladjusted youth dream if only were better raised
