Passing Dream Poem by Emillie DeVere

Passing Dream

As I gallop across the seas
Flying towards my home
Lifted by the wings of the breeze
Laughing, from exhilaration
Racing to long forgotten freedom
Weightless, carried above the clouds
Thoughtless, hopeful, dancing in the sky
In the spotlight of the stars
Freedom is so close I can feel it
Reaching out to touch it
But it starts crumbling, breaking
Collapsing to the ground in ashes and ruins
And that’s when I understood,
My dreamland has after all, been only a passing dream…
