Passport To Dream 3/12/12 Poem by Suzanne Andersson

Passport To Dream 3/12/12

I found Nana Lindy's passport
She was born in the Republic of Eire
Though she never got to travel
I know she had many dreams!
Born in County Cork in 1917
Dear Evelyn's face was covered
By a caul; a blessing for travellers
Upon the seven seas
Her dear mother lost her three youngest
To scarlet fever whilst carrying her
Her three babies taken from her
Never to be held again
Alice aged 3 years
... aged 18 months
And baby George 8 months
What a tragedy to lose
So many young ones
Lord I don't know how she coped!

I know Nana Lindy always wished
To go overseas
To see the many wonders of Lourdes
And Fatima; the place where angels
Visited the faithful; she longed to go
To those holy places
These were her dreams!

Dear Nana Lindy never did get to travel
The dear Lord took her from this earth
Over two long years ago
We miss her so very much!
