Paths Poem by Karla Bell

Paths

Rating: 5.0

Can’t think straight
The locks broken on the gate
Not sure what’s the answer
So I’ll think of the question
Who can ever see the whole forest?
Only what we have in front of our eyes
I can not always see what my feet are trampling on
Or what is trampling on my feet
We surround ourselves in mist
That rises from the ground
Some can play regardless
Of what they think they have found.
I thought I’d locked the gate
It’s been shut so many times on my face
And I’ve shut it too
But I’m not sure I want to wander through the forest again
And again
Paths are walked upon
Paths with street signs, saying one way only
But still they are walked down, the wrong way
And sure enough, something comes the other way
What did you expect, a clear run
No, nothing comes easily or is free
Everything has a price
Even being nice.
