Paul Escapes In A Basket Poem by Doris Clore Demaree

The Bible is filled with strange
And exciting adventures
Of wicked people and good.
Saul toured the country
Killing the Christians.
One day he heard a voice,
'Saul
Why do you persecute me?'
It was Jesus.
Saul was afraid.

After that Saul was a Christian.
His name was changed to Paul
But even his former friends
Tried to kill him.
Some Christian friends hid him in a basket
And let him down outside the city wall.
