Pause

A room filled with empty silences, lost words and now gone urges. Awkward sentences forced through what would be clenched teeth and zipped lips.
Maybe it would feel different a few days before. No forced smiles or inhaled conversations. No wondering what's going on in each other's mind. Is the grass truly greener on the other side? Or is it only greener where you water it?
If the latter is true than mine must be dying bc I don't feel very green. I feel caution tape, warning sign, school zone, watch for buses, yellow. I feel twenty miles per hour where I usually feel sixty, where my green light shines like Irish sunshine and freedom. I feel constricted, claustrophobic, oppressed. I feel like squemish to blood, quick get a towel, come to a stop and look both ways, pause, look again, red light, red.
I feel like a deer in the headlights..... Standing...... Boring. Melodies of Empty remixes play in my ears like whispers on the wind. I hear you loud and clear. I'm just, ignoring you.
You're telling me I should bring it up, but wait! Pause...... Think for a second on how you want this night to go. Now, don't go. think stop light red, think bright light deer, think safety tape yellow and clench teeth, edit words and omit conversations better left to lyrical telegrams anxiously read and eagerly rated. Let the professionals handle this, the words themselves. Written here in black and white talking about blood red pauses in heavy air. Detach yourself and let them do the talking so you don't have to worry about any potential heartbreak, I know you're allergic to pain! Don't sit there and willingly throw yourself onto a chopping block. Stop, think for a minute, take a breather. Think of what you say well before you say it or you might say something you'll regret. If you really HAVE to gamble, just take a quick pause before you bet.
