Peace Of Mind Poem by Mikha'il Na'ima

Peace Of Mind

The roof of my house is of steel; its pillars, of stone ;
then blow, O winds ! moan , O trees !
Swim, O clouds ! fall in torrents of rain!
Roar, O thunder! I fear no danger !
The roof of my house is of steel; its pillars, of stone .
Form my dim lamp i seek light to see
whenever the night grows long and darkness spreads,
and even if the dawn dies, and the day ends its life .
Vanish, O stars! put out your light, O moon!
From my dim lamp, I seek light to see.
The door of my heart is made stronge for all kinds of sorrow.
So come forward, O woes, at evening or at twolight!
Advanced, O misfortnes, with misery and boredom;
Descend in the thousands, O mishaps of men !
The door of my heart is made strong for all kinds of sorrow.
Fate is my ally; and destiny is my travelling mate.
So descend with lighting around my heart, O evils.
lay siege around my house, O Death !
I fear no torture and I fear no injury !
Fate is my ally; desiny, my travelling mate
