Pearly Doors Poem by Nathan Streango

Pearly Doors

The soul takes a toll when you’re stuck in a hole,
Theirs hope no more when you’re numb from below,
You scream and you cry but you’re still all alone,
The cut runs deep when you’re burned by the blow,

And so it goes,
The struggle will show,
The wine will flow when you passed pearly doors,
The tears will dry when you passed pearly doors,
And time will slow when you grasp on your woes,

If life is a struggle then the rich should have won,
The poor look on while they’re stuck in the wrong,
If death is escape then the rich should live on,
Perspective is foundation for a true hearts song,

And so it goes,
The struggle will show,
You dirtied your clothes when you joined in the show,
The show is the earth and the stars from below,
And time will slow when you grasp on your woes,

Eternity glimpsed while our time is a mist,
Unstable, transparent and floating abyss,
Running in sync with the stars in your glimpse,
You reach for the star and are met with a kiss,

And so it goes,
The struggle will show,
Life doesn’t end when the doors seem closed,
Faith is the key to stop all those opposed,
And now you can smile while you pass pearly doors

The problems in life can leave you numb with fright,
In moments of dark you should look to the light,
Cuz you have a God who has championed the fight,
The battle is won when the Lords in your sight,

And so it goes,
The struggles no more,
Accepting the bad with the good is what’s owed,
Cuz Jesus died for the sins of the world,
So life isn’t bad when it ends at His doors
