People Like Jewels Poem by Elna Nel

People Like Jewels

every square has its jewels
you realize every time you move
they keep coming to you
light faces bright
they live in the songs
of the mind's long legs
some kept some you lose
every time you go away
but they keep ringing
your mind like far off bells
faces like jewels forever blinging
alive in the legs of memory
in endless lingering
every time you move
to face a new adventure
in an unknown town
feeling somewhat sad
and to tell you the truth
feeling utterly lost
