People Smuggling

There's something ungenuine
about governments saying they must stop the people smugglers
because they're abandoning their charge to their fate.

People carers hear more care
for the lore of the sea,
than care for those in despair.

As if some abandon-prone crew
wouldn't step up
if a crew got sudden lore care
and wouldn't take the trip
if it meant going down with the ship.
