People View - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

People View - Lincoln Park Zoo

Some chimps in the Lincoln Park Zoo
Grab good seats in the habitat,
To watch what passing humans do,
Tall or short or skinny or fat.
'Oh look at that cute family.'
'I think that teacher lost a kid.'
'Those jeans on her - tight as can be.'
'Did you see what that old dude did? '
'Us chimps grow wiser, older - yes! '
'Humans seem dumber once they've grown.'
'Humans are good with tools, I guess.'
'Look at them texting on their phone.'

The humans come, the humans go.
The chimps stay and enjoy the show.
