In the external world
there is ceaseless commotion
turmoil and upheaval

At the centre of every one’s being
there is perfect peace and stillness
Love Eternal dwells in this silence deep

All disturbance and disquiet
the result of this duality
but deep-seated within there is harmony

There are silent caverns in ocean deep
where the fiercest storm cannot reach
so does in self sin and sorrow can not peep

In the external world there is discord
but unbroken harmony
at the heart of the universe

Human soul, by discordant passion torn
finds solace and peace in sinless state
where to live consciously in bliss

Hatred convulses the human heart
fosters persecution
hurls peoples into senseless wars

Yet why do they not go after this inward peace
this silence, this harmony, this Love
this Kingdom of Heaven within every one?
