Perfection In Imperfection Poem by Luke Easter

Perfection In Imperfection

The relentless pursuit of perfection,
Was a slogan for the Lexus automobile,
It would get you from A to B,
In a first class style and feel.

The Chevrolet Corvair would also get you there,
Although ranked at the bottom of the totem pole,
Filled with plenty of manufacturing imperfection,
The main thing was at least you were able to go.

Revlon, Mary Kay & others make billions of bucks,
Saying through imperfection you’re down on your luck,
Brains without beauty will never get you there,
Perfection from their cosmetics is how to climb the stairs.

Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky & Tiger to name a few,
Showed in the sports world what perfection could do,
However, what many people fail to realize,
Is the number of times imperfection won the prize.

From the second we are born to the day of our wake,
Striving for perfection many will make the mistake,
Of treating imperfection as an incurable disease,
While mistreating others on their way to succeed.

Scars and tears will mark the imperfect heart,
Because it’s trials and tribulations that tell us apart,
God doesn’t make decisions on what you do & do not know,
Judgment is solely based on how spiritually you grow.

Are you born again and have you been saved?
Perfection doesn’t mean you’re going the right way,
True beauty cannot be washed off at the end off the day,
Changed from imperfection the next morning making up your face.

Way too often perfection is misperceived,
Because it’s not in you that people really believe,
When you don’t perform as they want you to,
LeBron showed imperfection and was booed at the Q.

A doctor, accountant or whatever the case may be,
It doesn’t have to be basketball-shooting shots called free,
Perfection causes the masses to always hang around,
Let imperfection sink in, “friends” are nowhere to be found.

Remember the imperfection the Apostle Paul had in his side?
Yet with the perfection of faith and love he could heal afflicted lives,
I’m not suggesting we can heal the sick my sisters and brothers,
Is it possible to have an imperfect heart and still give aid to others?

Every time you release a part giving to another through love,
Does not mean it will return in the same way because,
Although through perfection you share the kindness of heart,
Because of the imperfection of others you might be further apart.

Giving love is taking a chance like investing in a penny stock,
You know a seed has been planted but in sand or on a rock?
Remember the old saying “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder? ”
The only problem being our eyes don’t see differently till we grow older.

That’s why it’s so important that your knowledge you share,
Do you really want others taking that long to get there?
Ever hear someone say, “If I could live my life over again, ”
Things would be real different, I promise my friend.

Hindsight is the only vision that no one has,
Glasses, contacts or Lasik will never bring it to pass,
Share the love of your heart to those in dire need,
Remember you’re not loosing but planting a seed.

What does God really see when looking at you?
Not the outer side but He sees straight through,
Checking the inner most workings on the inside of your heart,
Is it beating a fortune at Tiffany’s or a sale at Wal-Mart?

Only through imperfection could my perfection really see,
Until I was imperfect the perfect love God had for me,
This is the reason our Lord Jesus Christ by a virgin came to be,
Killing the perfect One by those imperfect we are saved & set free.
