Persistent Poem by James Trotter

Persistent

A fallen tree
And a broken mind
Have seen the heartache
In the world's weathering
The rain beats down
Washing away the soil from the tree's roots
And upon I
As I struggle to make it to the next curb
I walk through a puddle
Cold, my shoes wet
And my feet numb
The tree is amber
While all others are bare
The tree fights
Knocking the world on its back
I scream with joy
And triumph over my heartache
Soon it will all be over
Soon... The world will kneel
Soon...
I shall flood the world-
With myself
Like a child
I will run up the street
Shouting 'rejoice'
For we must party
And the drinks will flow
And the music never stop
Soon...
