Personality Over Contents Poem by Hebert Logerie

Personality Over Contents

These days, what’s fashionable
Is personality over substance.
The bottle can be empty and dense,
It becomes extremely valuable,
Once a Superstar drinks from it.
The words of the unpopular poet
Are boring and inconsequential,
No matter how well-versed and rhymed
Is the poem. It’s unworthy of today’s dime.
It is like yesterday’s pennies thrown in the poubelle.
The King yells dog, the dog
Is chasing the naughty hog.
Everybody starts applauding,
Like he just delivered a good sermon,
He just recited an elegiac poem,
Or he just echoed a beautiful song.
Nowadays, c’est la mode d’être un dingue,
(Nowadays, it is okay being crazy and stupid)
It’s acceptable to forget the theorem,
To ignore the principles and to follow the fashion.
