Pet Friend Poem by Cunningham Mbati

Pet Friend

The feel of loneliness,
Disappears with the sound of your voice.
So sweet that it sweeps away my sadness,
and brings my heart to a rejoice.

As I turn and twist my head in pride,
I see the beautiful creature of nature as it glides.
It's you who defied the law of nature,
Your hops leaves me with need for adventure.

Small in size but beautiful feathers,
Your white belly under the tail makes you more glamorous.
Black feathers above and below,
gladdens my soul as I gaze how you wag your tail.

You heal my heart when in sorrow,
And give me a hope for tomorrow.
I wish I could be able to protect you,
when a harmful hunter plans to shunter you.

But don't worry you,
I will pray to God of nature to protect you.
