Philosophy And Alcohol Poem by John Thorkild Ellison

Philosophy And Alcohol

When I asked him why he liked to get pissed
He said 'I'm an existentialist -
I just can't take the Alienation,
It gives me the cramps and constipation! !
And as for the Angst, the Bad Faith, and all that,
I keep all those secrets under my hat,
It doesn't really matter I'm Condemned to be Free
When I've drunk ten pints and am desperate to pee,
I take the whole thing with a pinch of salt
(And don't blame old Sartre, it isn't his fault!)
The whole thing's ridiculous, you can take my word,
Who gives a damn when your life's Absurd? !
No need to go on about Friedrich Nietzsche
Or people will think you're some kind of preacher,
The whole thing is easy, if you stop to think,
Choose to be Free and swallow your drink! ! '
