Phonetics Poem by Stanley Cooper

Phonetics

To prevent a child from reading pathetically
The child should be taught to read phonetically
The long and short of vowels A E I O and U
With sounds of consonants, so he can construe
All those words that he’ll capably sound out
Phonetically read what the world’s all about
The way some are taught with excess of memorizing
Can to most kids be boring, scary and mesmerizing
A teacher can know the job was well done
When his kids are phonetically reading for fun
