Photograph Poem by Katherine Pinero

Photograph

Silence has broken, then comes the first rain,
Along with sweet memories of laughters and pain.
The songs on the old wrecked cassette player,
Continues to play, it never ends but slowly fades

Skies covered with eternal darkness,
Then a loud clap of thunder that touches thy soul.
But still there is a sun that shines, called tomorrow,
Yet I'm trapped within the grey walls of a photograph.

If and only if, I could touch the time,
I'd hold onto it tight, to make it last
And keep the memories where it should belong
Right here, next to my heart, ribs and lungs.

Oh rain! Cry more and more, speak louder!
Let me drench into your storm.
For I have lost the one I love most,
The one who sat besides me in this photograph.

I am impressed with your poetic talent. There is no doubt that though you are not adept in the English language, the emotions you convey through those four stanzas are brought out wonderfully by the words you use and the tone in which they are said. There is certainly a depth of feeling and the poetic expressions (though expressed in unpolished English - English not being your native tongue, I presume) are apt and the loss of the one you love is clearly felt in this marvellous poem. I am sure it would have been even more wonderful in the Filipino language/Tagalog. I rate it a 10, considering the age at which you wrote this.
