Pictures Poem by Vonda Overlie

PICTURES

I keep looking at your face in the picture,
never wanting to forget the way you smiled,
the way you were.

The way we were.

Memories to last a lifetime?
Is that too long?

Smiles captured in time, reminding me what we had.

If I could capture the essence of that day,
I would bottle it and spray it on when I feel this pain.

It has left an emptiness within,
a part of my heart is missing.

Until that day when all things are new,
I will take these journeys in my mind.
Remembering what use to be!
