Piercing The Veil Poem by June FeirCruz

Piercing The Veil

I couldn't even look at your eyes
And you thought it was because of guilt
Of something I must have done or didn't do
And you wanted for me to confess.

I couldn't look at you because of disbelief
Just a week ago, I thought that we were over
That I would never again feel your lips
Let alone look into your eyes.

I had lived in sheer torture
Of pain I wouldn't wish on anyone
I couldn't sleep, nor eat, nor think
All I did was cry an ocean.

Yet, here we are after meeting at the table of negotiations
Trying to pierce the veil of our emotions
Wanting to know where we stand
If we even stand half a chance.

Are we ever going to make it?
Are we going to last?
Are we going to be together at all?
Will you love me till the end of time?

Who knows where life will takes us?
Only the universe has the key
So for now thank our lucky stars
And all the powers that be.
