Please Do Not Talk To The Ghosts Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Please Do Not Talk To The Ghosts

Rating: 5.0

I became your ghost.
You were the castle
that I haunted.

We talked of times & things.
And - of the failings
of our feelings.

Asking questions
of answers
that could never be.
Do ghosts die?
Can castles cry?

Blatantly ignoring the signs:
PLEASE KEEP OFF THE PAST.
PLEASE DO NOT TALK TO THE GHOSTS.

We talked of things & times.
And - of the feelings
that had failed us.
Time out of mind.

I became your ghost.
You were were the castle
that I haunted.
