Please, Let Go Poem by Dan Maloney

Please, Let Go

Rating: 4.5

I held the whole world in my hands,
And fleeting felt its power so,
But I did not yet understand
That to keep it I must let it go.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I felt the need to write this poem because I felt powerless. I wanted the world, but I was strangling it, holding on to memories, weighing myself down.

I have the whole world in my hands, to do what I wish to find my path in my life. It's out there. I know it.

But, for the most part, I am too scared to move on. I don't want to lose what I have, even though what I have is something I hate.

This poem is not about realising what I can do, but it is about what I am too afraid to do, even though I know the difference. I can recognise my fear, but that does not mean I can over come it.

And at the moment, all I have is fear.
