Poem For Ashley

A Poem for Ashley

Congratulations on reaching age of nine
I am proud to say you're a son of mine
You have grown up so fast in the blink of an eye
If life ever hurts you I will cry
I remember the day that you were born
It was a Monday and I pushed till dawn
When you arrived it was worth all the pain
You changed my life to be never the same
You were so perfect in every way
Chocolate button eyes they melted me away
Your skin was so tanned your hair stood on end
You looked very Asian a beautiful blend
So happy and content you very rarely cried
Admired by others oh what a perfect child
No trouble to look after you never made a noise
Just played with Peter Rabbit and all your other toys
Your best friend's name was Joseph with him you loved to play
Always in water with dinosaurs and clay
You went to visit his house and never caused a riff
His mummy she did love you she said that you were bliss
From playgroup on to school a uniform you wore
Until we left to venture to another shore
You also learned a language and then to ride a bike
Swam all day in sunshine until it was night
Your skin has turned much browner
The sun has made you grow
And I love you more than ever than you will ever know.
Lots of love
Mumxxxxxxxxx
