Poems Are About Words Poem by Hebert Logerie

Poems Are About Words

Poems are about words
Of simplicity, of powers
Of expression, of emptying the hearts
Of praising, of winning against the odds
Of complaining, of saying it any way
In any way
Of dreaming
While sleeping
Of hoping
While failing
Of shouting, of opening the gateway
Of whispering, of breaking the bad rules
And of being unafraid to correct the fools.

Poems are about you and me
Even if we do not see
Eye to eye
We can still "Hi"
To each other
And to one another
We can even argue
And maintain mutual respect
And civility. We can also protect
And defend our rights
Our sights
And privileges
Through the ages
To agree or to disagree.

Poems are about openness
Having style, and finesse
Class and proper etiquette
Even under stress
And duress
Even under the influence of Moet.

Poems are about powerful
And simple words
Which can defeat the swords
And neuter the influential
And the rich Czars
At wars.
