Poems I Didn’t Write Poem by Charlie Parant

Poems I Didn’t Write

Rating: 5.0

There are poems out there I didn’t write
sounds of crickets singing in the night
the splashing waves on pebbled beaches
the sudden startle of owl screeches
the familiar ring of the church’s bell
the crackling fire I know oh, so well
the sudden squawk of a nearby gull
the slapping waves against the hull
the wind that whistles through the pine
the clothes left flapping on the line
the Common Loon with it’s lonely call
cold, crisp footsteps in the fall
creaky boards on wooden floors
squeaky hinges on antique doors
the ferocious bark when a dog sees a cat
the cracking pop when a ball meets a bat
the sudden hush of the baseball crowd
the sudden rush from a thunder cloud
the loving voices of old friends talking
the barefoot patter of a toddler walking
the clinking noise of a plate and fork
the popping sound of a champagne cork
the calming voice of a book being read
the rhythmic sound of a squeaky bed
I am surrounded day and night
by the sounds of poems I didn’t write
