Poetry For Children: God's Precious Cookies ©

Father God was in His kitchen, cooking up a storm,
Trying a tested recipe...called "Where people come from? "

God took a bowl of chocolate, He added a hint of morning dew,
He created little cookies, He made a precious few!
They were deep and dark in shade, They were rich like melted gold,
God smiled and saw that they were good, They shone like He foretold!

God took a bowl of honey, He added just a dash of spice,
And created little cookies, He knew they'd turn out nice!
They were honey brown in colour, They were burnished with gold dust,
God smiled and saw that they were good, They smiled, they knew they must!

Then God took a bowl of sugar, He added just a hint of salt,
And created little cookies, without a single fault!
They were snow white in colour, They shone with pure bright light,
God smiled and saw that they were good, He knew they were alright!

God blessed His precious cookies, And sent them to be baked,
Into life's burning furnace, His Sacred Heart, it ached.
God knew they wouldn't crumble, He knew they wouldn't burn,
God trusted His own recipe, which is something we should learn!

The honey cookies were delectable! They sparkled golden brown,
Sweet, with hints of pungent spice, Like jewels in God's crown!

The sugar cookies were heavenly! Resplendent, white & pure,
Soft, fragrant, little wisps of air, The angels wanted more!

The chocolate cookies were a treat! They gleamed a dark delight,
Abundant, true and mellow, A treasure glowing bright!

Satan came to tea that day - to put God to the test,
He laughed and challenged God to choose...the cookie He loved best.
He looked into God's Sacred Heart, God smiled with all His might,
God loves all His cookies; whether they're brown or black or white!

For brown Honey is not sweeter, than sugar, tho' it's white,
And white sugar is not sweeter, than honey, because it's light!
And dark chocolate is not richer, than sugar, tho' it's pure,
Now, that's a lesson everyone, on earth, should really know!
