POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
You may find it hard to believe, but these are the subdivisions of a city we lived in for several years. I passed most of these on my way to and from work each day. But NOT Haile Plantation: it was THE place to be, on the opposite side of town from Blues Creek, where we lived, just beyond Kanapaha (which I decided to omit - nothing rhymed or alliterated with it) . We considered buying houses in Avalon and The Quarries, but they were too elite for us. University Acres and Suburban Heights were just too ordinary. Then there was Forest of the Unicorn. I thought that was just too poetic.
