Poets Poem by Hannah Daughtry

Poets

Never love a poet.

He'll be cynical and observant
But never to your face
You'll find it written
hidden in free-verse

His emotional side
you adore
that ingenuous façade

She'll pretend she loves you
And him, and many more
Binge drinker
Experimenter
She needs Dutch-courage
To gain experience
To later put on paper
Never showing anyone.

I only hope
We aren't all
degrading poets.
Find one free of
This poetic-disease
You'll be happier
I'm sure
