Poison War Poem by Paul Celano

Poison War

A stone slab she sits
A dropp of her mind hits the ground
She stares down
Afraid to look up and face the pain
A hand twitches
The only part still showing life
Pain has attacked her inside
The poison war in her body
She holds an envelope
Soaked from her sadness
It doesn't wash away
It is branded in the back of her mind
Only curiosity wonders
What is inside the envelope?
But let her be
She has to fight her own war
