Poisonous Treat Poem by Jessi Odom

Poisonous Treat

How can you be so mean
And then the next minute treat me like a queen?
With words you give, oh how sweet,
But your touch delivers a poisonous treat.
I'm paralyzed from loving you
Because the pain you bring is nothing new.
Still I stay and wait for change
But every moment is just more pain.
And every day is still the same.
You love me, and kiss me and make me smile.
But I hurt inside, you drive me wild.
This feeling I have of loving you
I wonder if you feel it too.
Do you really like my personality,
Or just how it feels between the sheets?
You say you like the way I laugh.
But is that all apart of your swag?
These feelings I have are unhealthy for me
But I cant resist your poisonous treat.
And so I stay another day
Because I like to hear those words you say.
