Politeness Poem Poem by Anita Wisniewska

Politeness Poem

My name is Mr. Dingle and I'm terribly polite

And I hope my speaking to you will not give you a fright,

But I wonder if you'd like to come out with me tonight?

And if you could possibly tell me what your name is

I might reveal to you exactly what my game is.

Might I suggest a walk along the river?

An evening in a restaurant eating chips and liver?

Or, if you like, we might go for a drive,

Feel the wind blow in our hair, be glad that we're alive!

Would it be alright if I took you by the hand?

Might you possibly consider going to listen to a band?

How about the disco in the centre of the town?

Could I take you by the arm and spin you round and round?

My name is Mr. Dingle and I'm terribly polite

And I trust that my approaching you will not give you a fright

But I wonder if you'd like to come out with me tonight?

And if you could possibly tell me what your name is

I might reveal to you exactly what my game is.
