Poor Debt Ridden People Poem by Francis Duggan

Poor Debt Ridden People

So many people are in a financial mess
And because of their worries have to live with the stress
Of their unpaid debts that accumulate more interest every day
Their debtors due to their low incomes they cannot afford to pay
From loan sharks and lending institutions with nowhere to hide
For a way out of their woes they contemplate suicide
Of any hope for the future they live in despair
And their crosses for them seem too heavy to bear
Poor debt ridden people who struggle to cope
With the problems of mounting debt in their lives without hope
Of anything better in the days ahead
They are the poor living who envy the dead
The loan sharks and lending institutions their financial empires grow
Whilst so many who borrowed from them are burdened by woe.
