Positive Strokes Poem by Raj Arumugam

like lovers we offer one positive stroke for another
one gentle word for another,
loving touches in exchange;
we poetry-lovers
lovers at the heights of Parnassus
verse-lovers, word-lovers, lovers of the touchable and untouchable stuff alike
in equal measure
each hovering in ethereal cyberspace
and so one positive stroke begets another
and we vote love with numbers
and we make love with approving words;
a gentle run of the hand over one’s shoulders
and a touch returned one one’s cheek
(of course like true lovers
there are unkind words exchanged
but quickly made up
or new lovers found)
perhaps a kiss, an electronic embrace,
and so one positive touch for another
until each poet-lover we word ourselves into ecstasy
