Postpartum Poem by Sucre Blossum

Postpartum

remember the time
when laquesha & shanay
took baby rainger
to the cinema & we
stayed home kissing all
night long? our son
snuggled with others,
new parents for all he
knew we curled up under
the blanket & made
love
to one another
with our mouths & parts
interlocked, entwined
totally entangled
in one another
for the first time since he
vacated my womb
my wound was tender
you licked it, tended to it
i knew then we'd spend
the rest of our lives
with one another
